Florence

Travelling around Tuscany and its extraordinary landscapes we reach Florence. There are regular trains between Florence and Pisa and the travel takes a bit more than one hour.

Florence is a city of art and a birthplace of some of the most spectacular artistic treasures in the world. The city center is located very close to the central train station.

It takes us a couple of minutes to reach some of the most popular attractions: the Uffizi gallery and Palazzo Vecchio, located right in the heart of Florence at Piazza della Signoria.

The square has been always the main political center of the Florentine republic.

Palazzo Vecchio is a spectacular Gothic building with a rich history. It was used as a former residence of the powerful Medici Family and as a town hall.

In front of the palace is the marble statue of David. This masterpiece of the Renaissance art, is a bright example of Michelangelo’s talent.

Close to Palazzo Vecchio is located Loggia dei Lanzi, an open museum.

This impressive square is unforgettable and definitely a highlight of our vacation in Tuscany.

Following the main street we reach The Cathedral of Florence, Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. Its spectacular colorful façade is indescribable, a magnificent example of architectural genius.

The square around the cathedral is full with tourists. The excited visitors come here from all over the world and create a vibrant and unique atmosphere.

Wander through some of the oldest streets in the city we reach the Arno River. Right above the water is the famous Ponte Vecchio

Here merchants used to display their goods.

Nowadays the small stores offer jewelries.

Crossing Ponte Vecchio we reach Palazzo Pitti. This famous palace has been used as a residence by the Medici Family. Here and in the nearby located Boboli Gardens, we spend a whole day.

We climb the hill following the lovely walking trail and reach the Michelangelo Square. From here we can enjoy stunning panoramic views over the city.

The views captured from here are amazing, they reveal one unique cultural, artistic and architectural city.

Florence is one of the most important cities in Italy, a great place to visit and the highlight of our vacation in Tuscany.
