Just a short bus trip away from Valletta is the old capital of Malta-Mdina.
Known as the Silent City, Mdina is such a wonderful place to visit and
experience its bastions and palazzos.
Mdina has been the capital of Malta from
antiquity to medieval times. When the Knights Hospitallers came to Malta they moved
the capital to the new city, Valletta. Thus during years Mdina has lost its
importance.
The fascinating old walled city in the center of Malta is so lovely with
the beautiful old winding streets, artesian shops, churches and unusual mixture
of magnificent architecture.The city offers a walk through history.

here is the Cathedral, a place of calm and serenity. The interior is splendid
with many decorations and beautiful tombstones covering the floor.

Gorgeous little city to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. This very
special place is like going back in time.

At the end of our incredible tour in Mdina we visited the neighboring old
city Rabat, famous with its catacombs, St. Paul's Cathedral and Grotto. Rabat
has always been a suburb to Mdina, now most of the people live in this area.

We were very curious to see the St. Paul's and St Agatha`s catacombs.
The catacombs are very easy to find, since most of the signs indicate their
location. We have never visited anything similar before.
The catacombs are very scary and stretched for miles. This is an excellent
opportunity to learn about Malta`s history. The place is very interesting with
unique paintings and informative guided tour.
In 60AD St. Paul was shipwrecked on Malta and spent here 3 months. The
Maltese folk became Christians and built a splendid church at the place where
St. Paul has prayed. This is a holy sacred place for pilgrimage and Catholic
worship, visited even by popes.
Today the huge limestone church dominates the square and is one of the most
important sightseeing in Rabat. The most prominent part is the Grotto, where
according to the tradition St. Paul lived and prayed during his stay in Malta.

Situated in Gozo near the Dwejra Bay, Azure
Window is a limestone arch, a remarkable geologic landmark of Gozo. The Azure
Window is incredibly beautiful place to enjoy the nature at its best.The window is made of a very
unstable limestone suggesting that the arch is easy to disintegrate in the
coming years.

Gozo.
The inland sea is the best place to swim and enjoy the sun.
Gozo is another island of the
Maltese archipelago. The island is a very famous destination for fishing,
angling and boating.
The island is mentioned in Homers Ogygia, as a home of the
nymph Calypso who holds in capture Odysseus for seven years. Knowing well the
book and the story this island has always fascinated me, particularly by its
rich historical heritage and unique nature.
The best way to reach Gozo is
by ferry from Cirkewwa, the northernmost end of Malta.
The distance to Mgarr
harbor is about 25 min, enough time to enjoy the sea and the spectacular views
to the third Maltese island Comino.

Mgarr is a small picturesque
town.
We chose the city as a starting
point to explore Gozo. Our first stop is Victoria, the capital of Gozo. The best
attraction here is the Citadel, a castle known since ancient times.

Bay, one of our favorite place in Gozo.
Gozo has many catholic
churches and the Rotunda of Xewkija is one of the most beautiful.
Located in a
valley, the church can be seen from a distance. We admire its splendor and
grandeur.
In Gozo we got a tone of amazing
pictures.
On the northeast part of Gozo is
a fertile valley and several hill rocks.
On the top of one of them is a huge
statue of the Christ the Saviour.
Going to the northern
part of the island is the popular Marsalforn Bay. According to the legend from this place Saint Paul
continued his journey to Sicily and later Rome. The village is one of the best
tourist destinations in Gozo and offers a huge number of hotels, restaurants
and bars.
Gozo has several
beaches and the most popular is the Ramla Bay. Close to it is the Calypso Cave.
Another well-known archaeological
treasure here is the megalithic Ggantija temples, one of the oldest structures
in the world.
Gozo is a very interesting
island. Its impressive natural beauty and rich history make the island a
popular tourist destination, a place not to be missed.
