Copenhagen

Øresund Region is one of the most urbanized and high developed regions in Scandinavia. After visiting Malmo in Sweden we take Øresund train and go back to the Danish capital Copenhagen.

The city is the cultural and economic center of Denmark and is easy to reach via most of the main European airports.

Once arrived at the main station we got impressed by more than 100-year old amusement park Tivoli Gardens, located right in front of the main station.

This amusement park impresses young and old and it is one of the main attractions of the city. Its fairy tale atmosphere is completely unique and has fascinated many celebrities like Hans Christian Andersen or Walt Disney.

Copenhagen has a rich history and a lot to offer: historic landmarks, magnificent buildings, green parks. Its main attractions are within a walking distance and suit every taste and interest.

Just a few minutes walk away of Tivol is the City Hall.

This spectacular red building is one of the symbols of Copenhagen and a favorite place for most visitors.

The square in front is one of the main squares in Copenhagen and a preferred place for outdoor exhibitions.

Close to it starts Strøget, one of Europe's longest pedestrian streets with a wealth of shops, city malls and street musician.

We walk down the shopping street and take a rest in one of the many restaurants.

There is really a big choice of everything from traditional Danish cuisine to French bistro or Asian food.

Denmark is home of the world's oldest monarchy and number of beautiful palaces are located in Copenhagen. In Christiansborg Palace is the Danish Parliament, parts of the palace are used by the Royal Family for various functions and events

Christiansborg Palace tower is the highest tower in Copenhagen, and offers a magnificent view of the city's rooftops.

Close to the palace are many historical buildings and museums. We can feel at the same time the very youthful Danish spirit of this modern city.

We continue the walk along the canal and reach the impressive promenade. In front of us is located the district of Christianshavn.

Following the promenade we reach the sculpture of The Little Mermaid, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen`s fairy tale.

The little figure stays solemnly by the water and welcomes travelers.

Rosenborg is one of the most remarkable palaces in Copenhagen. Surrounded by water, this fascinating museum displays an exquisite royal art treasures collection and the Crown Jewels.

Particularly beautiful is the rose garden around the palace. This is an amazing place to relax and enjoy the quiet atmosphere and the green fields around.

Copenhagen is a vibrant city that has an amazing cultural scene and traditions. We chose Nyhavn as a perfect place to end the long day.

The colorful buildings located at the quay bring us back to pass times when Copenhagen was a main commercial center and ships from all over the world brought goods here.

Here we enjoy the great food, the traditional Danish open-faced sandwiches and the relaxed atmosphere close to the canal. This is one classic Danish experience in this extraordinary coastal city.
