The Black Forest and The Lakes Titisee and Schluchsee

Black Forest is one of the most charming places for tourism in Germany.

South of the city of Freiburg are the highest mountain areas, which are easily accessible by train. The train goes slowly through the steep terrain. After many curves and tunnels, we arrive the picturesque Lake Titisee.

This is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Germany.

We choose a cozy pastry shop to try the famous Black Forest cherry cake and enjoy the unique nature.

In this region was made the first cuckoo clock, which is now a favorite souvenir for thousands of tourists. Another regional product is the Black Forest ham, prepared according to an old recipe and smoked with wood from pine trees growing only in Black Forest.

After spending hours of contemplation and admiration, we leave Titisee and take a train to the highest German train station (967m). From here to Feldberg, which is the highest peak of Black Forest, is a long climb, but our destination is the less known lake Schluchsee.

Schluchsee is bigger than Titisee and offers a unique nature. This is an excellent destination for hiking, camping or biking.

We get out of the train at Seebrugg and decide to go along the lake to the neighboring village of Aha.

The narrow alley passes below huge pine trees. The silence gives us time to relax and enjoy the magnificent atmosphere.

Here, like in Titisee, the remote areas of the lake can be reached by boat. For most tourists, however, sailing is one of the favorite sports. In this area are held annually several world famous regattas.

We arrive after two hours Aha and sit down to repose and refresh with the local beer Rothaus, also produced in the region.

Here we enjoy the rest of the day and the fascinating views around.
