Chinchón

Chinchón is one of the most picturesque villages just 40 km from Madrid. This small town is located like in the middle of nowhere but is so fascinating with its idyllic atmosphere and inspiring stories for painters and bullfighters. Goya was also here and his paintings in the main altar of the church are admired by everyone visiting this unique place.

We love the little Plaza Mayor, such an unforgettable square with its wooden medieval buildings and balconies. The square is used as a bullfight ring and is covered with sand.

A beautiful unusual place.

The great choice of restaurants and cafes offer the famous anis drink and local meals.

Plaza Mayor is surrounded by many steep and narrow streets. There are a lot of small shops, offering typical products. Chinchón is famous with its onion and garlic which are so fresh and cheap.

We take the walk uphill to the Church of our Lady of the Assumption,

the clock tower and

the theater Lope de Vega.

The square here offers magnificent views towards the square.

This lovely charming little town is so unique. Life is here stopped in time. Chinchón is worth visiting after a stay in Madrid.
