The fantastic trip to Kronberg im Taunus and Opel Zoo

The mountain area Taunus, close to Frankfurt is an attractive tourist destination with its picturesque landscape, many mineral water springs and small towns.
The small town Kronberg lies on the foot of the Taunus, this is an extremely luxury residential area, surrounded by plenty of mineral springs, forests and green areas.

The historical part of the town is a short drive by bus from the train station. The original city wall has provided during centuries a solid protection and today can be still seen around Kronberg.

The old center is small and peaceful and impresses by its elegance and harmonically combination of half-timbered houses and narrow cobble-stoned streets.

The highlight of the town is the Kronberg castle built in 13th century on the top of a hill above the city.

A steep hillside way connects the castle with the city of Kronberg.

The mystical medieval castle brings its own charm and reveals fascinating views towards Kronberg and Taunus.

The beautiful and well-preserved castle is surrounded by a small garden.

Going back to the main square, we walk up and down hills and enjoyed the charming medieval atmosphere.

The park Victoria named to honor Princess Victoria, the daughter of Queen Victoria, who was married to Emperor Frederick III of Prusia. After the death of her husband she lived the rest of her years in Kronberg.

The park is so impressive by its fountains, statues and bridges.

Between Kronberg and Koenigstein is located the small Opel Zoo. The zoo has a good selection of animals and playgrounds.

Some parts of the zoo are very hilly and offer splendid views towards Frankfurt skylines.

Here we had a wonderful time and really enjoyed feeding or seeing animals just like in their natural habitats.

The big café has excellent view of elephants.
